CCL7 (MCP-3), a member of the CC chemokine family is ~75% similar to MCP-1 and ~60% similar to MCP-2 (two other CC chemokines). Like the other monocyte chemotactic proteins, MCP-3 will recruit monocyte lineages to the site of inflammation. MCP-3 is produced by numerous cell lines and its secretion may play a role in the metastasis of the cancer. Of the major chemokines, MCP-3 is one of the lesser studied.
